NAISDA dance project is an Artist in Residence program, where two NAISDA artists will spend four weeks based at Tennant Creek high school.


This is a collaboration project between Barkly Regional Arts, Tennant Creek High-School and NAISDA.

The two artists, Juanita and Kyle, will collect stories from participants to create local dance pieces. Throughout they residency they will teach dance by exploring contemporary Western dance techniques, cultural aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander movement and movement through body and vocal rhythms.

The residency is for students at;

– Tennant Creek High-school

– Youth not at school or at risk

There are also classes for advanced dancers at school.

The outcome will be a performance piece presented as part of National Youth Week in April 2014.
