Barkly Regional Arts are teaming up with BP Tennant Creek to present a unique community event. To help celebrate the fresh new inside look of bp we are presenting the hilarious Aboriginal Comedy All-Stars to entertain everyone.

The event will begin at 6:30pm with live music and an outdoor dinner plus entertainment and nibbles inside the bps store with comedy kicking off at 7:30pm.

Matt Ford is the latest in a squad of exciting young talents rapidly establishing themselves as the next generation of Australian standup, Matt has worked with the likes of Doug Stanhope, Tom Gleeson, and Tom Ballard.

Shiralee Hood has survived the Canberra bush fires, lived next to the Tent Embassy’s sacred fire outside Parliament House in Canberra and had her front teeth knocked out swinging on a Hill’s Hoist (which is about as Aussie as it gets).

Kevin Kropinyeri is Australia’ s premier Aboriginal comedy star, a high energy whirlwind that will have you holding your sides laughing, as he shares tales of growing up, marriage and the particular, absurd challenges of life as an Aboriginal Australian family man.

Dane Simpson’s cheeky online sketches such as “Chips and Devon” are making this bright new talent a bit of a Facebook favourite, gaining more than 50 thousand likes. Dane has been running a regular comedy club in his hometown of Wagga Wagga since 2015.

Australia’s premier Aboriginal comedy star, Kevin Kropinyeri is a one-man whirlwind that will have you holding your sides laughing, as he shares tales of growing up, marriage and the particular, absurd challenges of life as an Aboriginal Australian family man.

A high-energy performer, Kevin is sharp, likeable, silly and measured; mixing keen observational standup with joyfully ridiculous physical comedy.

Kevin tours Australia constantly, appearing all over the country, including at some of its most remote communities, and is a bona fide star of the Indigenous performing arts, appearing at the Deadly Awards at the Sydney Opera House six years running. As well he is a regular feature on the mainstream corporate, club and festival circuits and a Comedy Festival Roadshow regular.

He is also steadily building a substantial TV and media profile with a long list of special guest appearances.

Kev boasts a rich background as a state grade footballer and basketballer, a visual artist and years as a Youth Worker and an Aboriginal Education Worker … and now, as the exciting new face of black Australian comedy.

She’s Australia’s #1 female Aboriginal comedian! Winner of the 2009 Deadly Funny competition and nominee for a 2012 VIPA Award, Shiralee has been rocking audiences throughout Australia for the past five years with hilarious stories and an outrageously funny take on life.

She’s survived the Canberra bush fires, lived next to the Tent Embassy’s sacred fire and had her front teeth knocked out swinging on a Hill’s Hoist (which is about as Aussie as it gets).

Shiralee’s solo show at the 2013 Canberra Comedy Festival- the aptly named Shiralee Hood Is All Fired up! – certainly ignited passions. In 2014 she was handpicked to tour as opening act for the world-renowned dance troop Djuki Mala – better known as the Chooky Dancers and has most recently appeared with Circus Oz’s as part of their Blakflip programme.

This seasoned performer is also an accomplished actor, director and radio presenter on 3CR’s award winning Beyond The Bars, which produces broadcasts featuring Indigenous voices from inside prison.

Matt is an exciting new, young talent on a fast track for big things.

The latest in a squad of teenage prodigies rapidly establishing themselves as the next generation of Australian standup, Matt won the Comedy Festival’ s Class Clowns competition back in 2010 and has hardly paused in his progress since.

Now performing regularly around the sprawling south-east Queensland comedy circuit, Matt has worked with the likes of Tom Gleeson, Tom Ballard, Josh Earl and many others. He has two Brisbane Comedy Festivals and two Melbourne Comedy Festivals under his belt, having featured in several showcases that generated substantial buzz for the hot young performer. In addition, he has been invited to be part of two Deadly Funny national Indigenous standup showcases.

Matthew’ s style is an inspired mix of social commentary musings with absurd everyday observations.

DANE SIMPSON

Dane Simpson is proving that the best comedy can be found in the most genuine human experiences. The winner ofNSW final in the Deadly Funny comedy competition in 2015, Dane’ s cheeky online sketches are rapidly making him a Facebook star, with more than 50 thousand views.
Dane yarns about what it is like growing up as an Aboriginal man in Wagga Wagga, and his roots in the small outback town of Walgett.  Good natured stories about his mates and mischief, plus a charming “dad-joke” vibe make him instantly relatable and engaging.

A professional DJ since the age of 15, Dane runs a regular “Koori-oke” night at his local pub, and setup and runs a regular comedy club in his hometown of Wagga Wagga.
