Welcome to the new Barkly Regional Arts (BRA) website! We have endeavoured to give people surfing the site a sense of where the organisation has come from, where it is today and where it is headed. It exemplifies a unique multi-arts organisation devoted to the provision of quality arts programs and experiences for the people of the Barkly region of the Northern Territory, one of the most remote and challenging locations in Australia.
The site enables BRA to reach beyond the region to the globe, showcasing the art of its robust multicultural community including its predominantly First Nations cultures and their distinctive artistic genres.
The site also functions to directly engage people in our programs, to promote dialogue with any part of the organisation, to access our diverse music and media services and to provide a shop front for the huge array of wonderful art works the organisation has to offer. BRA supports the many artists who have produced these works and we are proud to present them.
The Covid-19 pandemic has inadvertently heralded yet another positive era for BRA which has never been so preoccupied with supporting art and artists across this vast region. Locked down communities in the biodiverse zones have been provided with art materials to enable their continuance of painting and creating. Technologies to support remote music training and recording and iCloud collaborations are beginning to flourish, with enhanced ways of providing these services across the vast arid lands blossoming into the future.
Stay tuned for updates and thank you for visiting!
