Dalery started to paint in the early 2000s during the first Barkly Arts workshops in Epenarra led by China De la Vega. She also learnt from the experienced senior artists including Kaye Beasley, Julie Peterson and her cousins Lynette and Rochelle Bonney. She honed her painting skills with Liz Mullen who coordinated the art centre during World Vision (until 2012).
Dalery gets inspired by the multitude of bush tuckers, the depiction of the leaves of the medicinal plants, the hills, waterholes and river around Epenarra and Barrow Creek (her family comes from). She find also pleasant to illusrtate the fauna, particularly the ones hunted, kangaroos and echydnas. She also paints some cultural stories related to her families.
When Dalery is not painting, she enjoys her time in bush, going hunting in family or fishing next to the Station, and taking care of her home, relaxing in front of the TV.
