Bush tucker is a major subject of painting for Aboriginal artists, which is strongly related to the ancient knowledge from their past of hunter-gatherers.In Epenarra, people are still collecting bush tucker to feed their family and provide a healthy alternative to the Western food and to gather the whole family for teaching about the bush (bush school).

About the Artist

Deandra is born in 2000 in Alice Springs. She learnt about art in Worawa Aboriginal College in Victoria before moving back to Epenerra. It is her grandmother and her mother, Cheryl Ladd who shows her how to paint bush tuckers and landscape, particularly Barrow Creek.
